Why Hawaiian Chocolate

Like superb wine and premium olive oils, fine chocolates all carry a signature flavor. Their distinctive tastes start with the original ingredient: the cacao bean. Wine grapes vary by varietal, region of origin, harvesting methods and weather. So, too, do cacao beans.

East Maui Chocolate seedlings are grown starting with hand selected pods and germinated with care.  Our Hawaiian chocolate is developed with our unique blend of three varieties of cacao: Criollo, Trinitario and Forastero.

Single origin chocolate is chocolate made from beans from one region, sometimes even one farm. Chocolate connoisseurs argue that chocolate has varied tastes and such tastes depend upon where it is grown. When chocolate is made from beans from many different areas, taste distinction is more difficult to discern.  100% Pure Hawaiian Cacao is unique to our islands.
